City to Prioritize Flood Handling for This Year Budget

Post the ratification of 2015 city budget on Tuesday (1/27), Jakarta Provincial Government prepares the development program to run in this year.

Our priorities this year are flood handling, embankment construction, roads, and acquire the land for used as Green Open Space

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja 'Ahok' Purnama said, Jakarta Provincial Government prioritized Jakarta development to some points such as flood handling and the land acquisition for Green Open Space (RTH).

"Our priorities this year are flood handling, embankment construction, roads, and acquire the land for used as Green Open Space. We need to focus to acquire the land. Many of them are not paid yet. So, we prioritize to buy it and also to rebuild some school building," said Ahok after Plenary Meeting at City Council Building, Tuesday (1/27).

Basuki revealed, 2015 Jakarta City Budget is also allocated for education sector that reach 27 percent from the total budget.

"The education budget will be used to support KJP (Jakarta Smart Card) for the students in capital," he added.

According to him, based on BPK (Supreme Audit Agency) investigation, City Government is not allowed to give BOP (Education Operational Aid) for private schools.
